Design and Technology Curriculum Intent
At St. Marks we strive to provide our children with opportunities to use creativity and imagination to design and make prototypes and products for different users, taking into consideration their own and other’s needs, wants and values. We provide the opportunity for our children to learn by evaluating past and present designs and products from the world around them, and to develop their technical and practical skills, which can then be applied to creating product designs which seek to solve real life and relevant problems.
Our children will have opportunities to work with others to analyse and reflect on their progress throughout each stage of their design, allowing them the time to solve problems that arise, to be resourceful and to adapt work as necessary, in order to achieve their finished product.
Our children will be encouraged to think about how their decisions affect people and the environment and we want to encourage them to become innovators and risk takers, and maybe inspire them to become designers, engineers, architects of the future!
