Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Leader: Miss Dear

In the EYFS, children have continual access to an outdoor learning environment. In the rest of the school, we are looking for every opportunity when planning to improve the effectiveness of lessons by taking the learning outside. Children are provided with rich and varied opportunities to extend their learning through a wide range of school visits. These include outings to museums, theatre visits, studies at local nature reserves and a day out at the seaside.

The school is currently establishing a Forest School to be run on the site. Its aim is to provide children with regular opportunities to develop their confidence and self-esteem through hands-on experiences in a natural environment. Learning in a Forest School is child initiated and activities can range from den building and bug hunting to story telling and team building games.
